# Introduction

> Simulant recreates a population as grounded, questionable minds so you can test your thinking before the real world sees it.

Simulant is a simulation of the people you're trying to reach. It recreates a representative population as grounded personas — modelled on real, official data — so you can put a creative, a message, or a decision in front of them and read the reaction before you commit to it in the real world.

Where traditional research takes a quarter, Simulant runs in a night. You can ask the same population again and again, cut the answer by any segment, and read the verbatims and the reasoning behind every number.

## What you can do

* **Test creative before the spend.** Pre-test ads, hooks, and hero assets across variants and segments.
* **Find the message that lands.** Compare value propositions and read why one wins.
* **Rehearse a launch or a statement.** Stress-test a decision against the room before it goes out.
* **Convene a focus group on demand.** Watch a segment deliberate, react, and shift its mind.

## How it works

<Steps>
  <Step title="Ground a population">
    Simulant builds personas from official datasets — census, electoral studies, social cohesion, household panels, and more. See [How grounding works](/data/grounding).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Define who you're reaching">
    Build a [cohort](/guides/cohorts) with demographic filters and data-backed psychographic tags.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Put something in front of them">
    Run a [test](/guides/tests) or a [focus group](/guides/focus-groups) against the cohort.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the answer">
    Get quantitative measures, verbatims, themes, and recommendations — cut by any segment.
  </Step>
</Steps>
